West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was recently seen jogging in London’s Hyde Park, dressed in a white saree with a green border, her signature white slippers, and a black cardigan. A video showing her walking backwards as part of her exercise routine — known as retro walking — has gone viral. Banerjee described her outing as a "warm-up," showcasing her interest in maintaining fitness.

Objective of UK Visit

Banerjee is in London to engage with industrialists and explore investment opportunities for West Bengal. Her tour is aimed at strengthening economic relations between the state and the United Kingdom.

Opposition Leader’s Criticism

Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Banerjee’s remarks during her meeting with the London business community. He described her comments as "sloppy," and claimed they ranged from humorous to "outrageous."

Allegations Against the Chief Minister

Adhikari further accused Banerjee of making statements that could be interpreted as attempts to undermine the central government of India. He claimed she delivered a politically charged speech, presenting what he referred to as “fake imaginary data.” He suggested that her remarks could be easily fact-checked and criticized the overall tone of her address.

Adhikari Shares Footage

In his post, Adhikari also included video clips of Banerjee jogging in Hyde Park and speaking at the London event. He referred to the visuals as a "trailer" of her alleged “gaffes, lies, and comedy.”
