The Karnataka government has announced plans to develop a large-scale deep-tech park in Jangamakote, located approximately 50 km from Bengaluru. The announcement was made by MB Patil, the state’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development.

This upcoming hub will focus on space technology, semiconductors, robotics, electric vehicles, drones, medical devices, and high-tech manufacturing in sectors such as electronics, aerospace, and defence.

Strategic Location with High-Tech Focus

Jangamakote, situated in Chikkaballapur district, offers proximity to Bengaluru and its international airport. This makes it a strategic location for high-tech industries, according to Minister Patil.

The park is proposed to be named the Sir MV Deep-Tech Park, in honor of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, a legendary Indian engineer known for his work on the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysuru.

Farmer Cooperation and Land Acquisition

Farmers in Jangamakote, which lies in Shidlaghatta taluk, have agreed to provide 1,033 acres of land to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). In return, they seek fair compensation, employment opportunities, and local development.

Patil stated that the farmers' demands will be reviewed with relevant authorities, and appropriate steps will be taken to address them.

Other Industrial Projects Gaining Momentum

In addition to the Jangamakote tech park, several other major projects are moving forward:

  • An economic corridor in Dharwad
  • A plug-and-play facility
  • Industrial hubs in Vijayapura and Kalaburagi
  • A startup park in Hubballi

Additional industrial zones are in various stages of land acquisition and development across Belagavi, Ballari, Davangere, Chitradurga, Tumakuru, Kolar, and Coastal Karnataka.

Upcoming Udyama Manthana Event in April

Karnataka will host Udyama Manthana, a two-day industry event in April aimed at promoting manufacturing and strengthening the state's industrial sector. The event will bring together investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to discuss:

  • Technology
  • Investment opportunities
  • Policy reforms

Officials participating in the event will also undergo training in communication, policy awareness, and social media engagement, according to Patil.
