
A section of the audience at Kellogg College in the University of Oxford confronted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her speech regarding the RG Kar incident in Kolkata. The confrontation happened as the Chief Minister was giving her address.
At some point, there's this single interlocutor who exclaims, ‘We are not in Kolkata’. In her relatively calm self, Banerjee asked people to compose themselves saying ‘I intend to hear everything you have to tell me.’
The protesters began confronting with issues on the rape and murder of a junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College, and further the exit of the Tata group from Singur due to the protests against the Nanofactory. Banerjee’s response, “I love you brother,’ she said. “If you want to do politics, go do it in my state. I promise to send you chocolates for your ideology.”
The Chief Minister was confronted by her supporters when a protester repeated the lewd phrase ‘Mamata ji anyone for hindus’, which the head replied ‘I am for all, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians.’
The protesters raised violence during elections and the Bengal development investment as their other concerns. Banerjee reminded them that the investigation was with the center- “That case is pending, that’s not dealing with us anymore.”
Eventually, the some urged the protesters to let the chief minister address the public and the others in the audience did not support this behavior is what brought the blockade to a close.
She was overheard saying the party will bolster its support in West Bengal so that they have a legitimate chance of fighting against them is what she said to the cal protesters
