Suspense crime, Digital Desk : As per the figures furnished by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on May 21, India’s domestic air passenger numbers have increased by 8.45 percent in April of 2025 as compared to the earlier year, achieving a milestone of 143.16 lakh passengers.

Nonetheless, the estimate is lower than that for March 2025 when domestic airlines had a figure of 145.42 lakh passengers. Experts claim this slight drop can be linked to the disruption caused by the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, which claimed no less than 26 lives and injured several others. This incident has impacted flight operation breakdowns, mostly in the northern and western states.

IndiGo retained the title of the most punctual Indian airline for the fifth month in a row after overtaking Akasa Air in March, recording on-time performance of 80 percent at India’s four metro airports: New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

In the case of punctuality, the second and third spots were taken by Akasa Air and the Air India Group, followed by Alliance Air. As per the competitive aviation industry, the performance data shows that the airline has sustained operational and economic efficiency along with concentrated attention to competition.
