However, should there be available space within the AC coach, then during charting the system shall, indeed, upgrade you into III AC.

The most important aspect of this situation is that no charges need to be made for this. Also, it is not restricted to only 3AC or Beneath 2AC; passengers can also be promoted to 1st Class. However, as is the case in 3AC, promotion will only occur if there are available places.
When booking tickets on the IRCTC website and mobile app, remember to check on the option “Consider for Auto Upgradation”. If the ticket gets upgraded, the PNR number will stay the same but will change the coach and seat. However, it must be understood that this facility does not apply on railway quota tickets.
