Indian Railways Implements Special Provisions for Senior Citizens, Women, and Disabled Passengers:

Suspense Crime,Digital Desk: Railway Special Provisions: Indian Railways has taken noteworthy steps to ease train travel for elderly, disabled, and women passengers. Special provisions have now been made for vulnerable passengers.

With this, there is an attempt to provide lower berths in trains to elderly women above the age of 45 along with disabled people. Moreover, other amenities including wheelchairs and assistive desks are being improved and made comfortable for these passengers.

Special provision for every coach

As per Et report, Railways has recently introduced many such special provisions including allotment of lower berths to senior citizens, women and disabled passengers. Under this, for these passengers, 6-7 berths in every coach in sleeper class are reserved, while 4-5 seats in third AC are also set aside for these passengers. Along with that, 2A coach also has 3-4 lower berths reserved for these passengers. However, the number of reserved berths depends on the number of coaches in the train.

As per the report all pregnant women and women aged 45 orabove along with other senior citizens are given lower berth allocation automatically during booking by the railways. However, it still depends on the booking status for lower berths. This makes certain that these passengers have an easier time during travel.

Additional disabled persons facilities

The Indian Railways has also taken special measures for disabled individuals. Including premier class like Rajdhani and Shatabdi, express trains have also been included in the reserved quota. There are 4 suppled shrters suach as: 4 berths (including at least 2 lower berths) in Sleeper Class, 4 berths (2 Lower berths) in 3 AC/3E and 4 seat in Second Sitting (2S) or Air Conditioned Chair Car (CC) which are also reserved.

In case a lower berth becomes available during travel, women, senior citizens and disabled persons are the only ones given priority to claim these seats.

Indian Railways is proactive in enhancing facilities at the attendent stations too along with zonal ireline areasfor clarifying routes and interfaces meant for disable passengers through signage.
