
On Tuesday, India and China marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Leaders from both sides exchanged congratulatory messages to commemorate the occasion.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian President Droupadi Murmu acknowledged the milestone, while Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared messages of goodwill.
Xi Jinping Calls for “Dragon-Elephant Tango”
President Xi referred to the relationship as a “Dragon-Elephant tango”, symbolizing the distinct cultural emblems of China and India. He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, expressing readiness to enhance communication and coordination on global matters.
Xi further stressed the need for both nations to safeguard peace in border regions, a topic that has seen increased attention due to recent tensions in Himalayan areas.
Leaders Urge Strengthening of Bilateral Ties
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, addressing a media briefing, highlighted the importance of the day, calling it a moment to reflect on the progress and future direction of India-China relations.
In parallel, Indian and Chinese leadership reaffirmed the desire to explore avenues of cooperation despite existing geopolitical challenges, emphasizing the significance of bilateral engagement in shaping regional and international stability.
