Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The laying of the fuel pipeline from Faridabad in Haryana to Noida International Airport in Jewar is 95% complete. Bharat Petroleum has established a 34-kilometer underground pipeline from its Pyala depot in Faridabad directly to airport. This pipeline carries aviation turbine fuel (ATF) used to refill aircrafts.
The construction progress from Faridabad to the Yamuna Expressway is mostly complete. Remaining idle construction of 1.2 kilometers inside the airport precints is also close to completion. The objective is to control fuel supply from the pipe as soon as terminal connections are settled.
As per the most recent update, the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh had visited Jewar Airport construction site and put a deadline for the pipeline work to be finished by June 30. An agreement was made between Bharat Petroleum and Noida International Airport on the 20th of February 2024 which enables them to provide fuel directly and in a greener manner via a piped fuel delivery system instead of using tankers. The pipeline is direct and for the sake of safety and environmental risks, bypasses the river construction section was buried above the Yamuna able.
Within the airport, Indian Oil Skytanking Limited (IOSL) has constructed five large tanks which will store the ATF fuel delivery from Haryana. The first operational fuel storage region within the Airport has a Capacity of 50,000 kilolitres. Even if the pipeline supply is interrupted for five days, the fuel stored in these tanks will still be sufficient for the continued refueling of aircraft.
A fuel supply cut will not happen operating under a 30-year contract signed between IOSL and Noida International Airport allowing control over fuel depot and hydrant systems.
