Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal supremo Om Prakash Chautala has passed away. He breathed his last at the age of 89 in Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. It is being told that he was ill for a long time. Chautala was brought to the hospital at 11.30 am and he died after 12 noon. His death has caused a wave of mourning in the politics of Haryana and the country. Leaders and his supporters from all over the country are paying tribute to him.
Chautala played an active role in Haryana politics for several decades and has held the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister. His demise is being considered a big loss for Haryana politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Chautala.
CM Nayab Saini expressed grief
After his death, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has shared a post on his social media handle X. The CM has written, “The death of INLD supremo and former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala ji is extremely sad. My humble tribute to him. He served the state and society throughout his life. This is an irreparable loss for the politics of the country and Haryana state. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed soul in his lotus feet and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this grief.”
Bhupendra Singh Hooda paid tribute
On the demise of former Haryana Chief Minister and INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala, former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda said, ‘They were together for a very long time in Congress politics. We were together in the assembly as well. He has served the people in his lifetime. Right now he was also active in politics. He was a good person. We had good relations. He was in the role of my elder brother.’
Mallikarjun Kharge expressed grief
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on social media, “The news of the demise of former Haryana Chief Minister and senior leader Choudhary Om Prakash Chautala ji is sad. He contributed significantly in the service of Haryana and the country. In this hour of grief, we express our deepest condolences to his family and supporters and pray for the peace of the departed soul.”

JDU leader KC Tyagi said, ‘The demise of Om Prakash Chautala is an irreparable loss for millions of his fans. Today the farmers of Haryana have become helpless, when they needed Chautala ji’s leadership and guidance the most.’
He was the Chief Minister of the state four times
Om Prakash Chautala was one of the most influential leaders of Haryana. He served as the Chief Minister of the state four times. Chautala became the Chief Minister for the first time on 2 December 1989 and remained in this post for 171 days. After this, he became the Chief Minister again on 12 July 1990, but this time his tenure was only for five days. After this, on 22 March 1991, he took the post of Chief Minister for the third time, but this tenure also lasted only 15 days. For the fourth time, he took oath as Chief Minister on 24 July 1999 and this time he completed his term till March 2005.
