A private firm employee from Noida, Mohit Yadav, aged 33, hailing from Auraiya district died under mysterious circumstances in a hotel in Etawah, where he allegedly left death note accusing his wife and in-laws of severe tormenting.

Police received a call from Mohit's family telling them that he had earlier sent them a video prior to his demise. They claim that in the video he stated that wife Priya and her family constantly abused him by making threats, filing fake police complaints, and pressuring him to transfer property for his wife.

Reportedly, in the video, Mohit said “If only there was a law for men too. If I don’t get justice, immerse my ashes in a drain”

Timeline of Events

Both parties became officially engaged to each other in a simple ceremony without dowry on November 27, 2023, after living together for a prolonged period of time.

After getting married, the couple chose to stay on their own.

Parental disputes regarding Prithvi’s property led to accusations on In-laws claiming pressure onto Mohit’s family because they assumed Priya’s name would be placed on the deed.He also maintained that Anuj Kumar, his father-in-law, had made a fabricated accusation against him, and his brother in law had physically assaulted him.

Mohit also alleged that his mother-in-law compelled Priya to undergo an abortion after three months of pregnancy, which worsened the situation further.

Discovery of The Body

Mohit checked into a hotel near Etawah railway station on Thursday at 12:05 am, booking a two-night stay. He isolated himself in his room the entire next day, not ordering any food and having no communication with hotel staff.

Due to the lack of sound, hotel staff attempted to contact him and subsequently alerted the police. Officers reported that they had to break into the room only to find out that Mohit had hung himself from the ceiling fan using a bedsheet.

Vikram Singh Chauhan, Civil lines SHO, confirmed with the recovery of a laptop and mobile phone, no suicide note was present. The senior police were later joined by SP (City) Abhay Nath Tripathi and CO (City) Ramgopal Sharma at the scene for a forensic evaluation.

Ongoing Investigation

Taran Mohit’s brother remarked that the family in general is pursuing justice and anticipates the appropriate response will come from the evidence received.
