Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliation for Druk Padma Karpo School, colloquially referred to as “Rancho’s School” from Bollywood’s blockbuster “3 Idiots”, is a crowning achievement after 24 years of dedicated work towards becoming a modern educational institution with national acclaim.

"${Rancho's School}"  is one of India's most innovative schools and has long been praised for the forbeing a pioneer in the use of technology to improve the educational processes during times when most of the country lagged in infrastructure."

Achieving CBSE recognition had been a long unsought journey.

Druk Padma Karpo School was established in 1998 with the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) as its certifying body. While both the school and its curricula were on par with international standards, their various applications to gain a No Objection Certificate from JKBOSE (the stepping stone for the CBSE) were futile.

Mingur Angmo, the Principal of the school stated regarding her students

"We had been working aggressively towards becoming affiliated with CBSE even before Ladakh was designated a Union Territory. We are the now the guiding lite and have got onboard with CBSE. Our first set of board exam students are currently studying in Grade 10. ”

Upon receiving the CBSE backing, the school plans to extend the classes taught up to the 12th grade level by 2028. To meet the requirements their teacher training programs have already been initiated alongside other prospective instructors. An Optimal Partnership for New Teaching Methods

Druk Padma Karpo School’s approaches have always incorporated experiential, project-based, and learner-centric techniques which are in sync with the activities under the broader CBSE changes due to the NEP (National Education Policy) guidelins.

“Now that CBSE is also adopting a more constructive approach due to the NEP, integration of our approaches with the new directions of CBSE will be easier,” said Principal Angmo.

An Attraction Because Of A Movie

The school still remains a prominent site of interest for the tourists owing to its association with the blockbuster movie 3 Idiots. The famed ‘Rancho’s Wall’, where the iconic electric shock scene was shot, continues to be a point of focus, although it was relocated in 2018 for more scholarly surroundings.

Parents and other visitors occasionally catch sight of some of the school’s special programs, including recent mock elections which actively teach students about democracy and civic responsibility.
