Police Investigate the Scene, Suicide Note Located at the Location
Villagers and police arrived at the site after receiving the alert. SP City Shankar Prasad, Area Officer Purnima, and a forensic team later arrived at the site. Initial investigations imply that the couple died as a result of a suicide pact due to their romantic affair.
Identified as the deceased were Manish, aged about 25, a Nagla resident and Sapna, 35, a married woman from Hasanpur. As per police's initial theories, a note purportedly signed by Manish was left at the scene which read in part that Bacchu, who is married to Sakshi, was restricting access to her, which led them to this drastic conclusion.
Social Pressure Suspected
The police report states that Sapna had three children, was in a relationship with Manish, and was married to Bacchu in a customary marriage. According to reports, Sapna was in a miserable marriage and wished to elope with Manish. Along with the social pressure and scorn, the couple might have emotionally suffered, which further aggravated their condition.
When the incident became public knowledge, a good number of people flocked to the area, bewildered at the degree of the incident. The police have both bodies in their possession, which is to be autopsied. The investigation is still active for the possibility of other motives behind the so-called suicide, including checking the validity of the suicide note and claims of a staged death.
