Battery material manufacturer Epsilon Advanced Materials is planning to set up an anode plant with an annual production capacity of 90,000 tonnes for Rs 9,000 crore in Karnataka. A top company official gave this information. Epsilon Group Managing Director Vikram Handa said that investment in this plant will be done in two phases. Rs 4,000 crore will be invested in the first phase and the remaining Rs 5,000 crore will be invested in the second phase.
30,000 tonne anode plant
Handa said, “In such a situation, we are thinking of setting up a 30,000-tonne anode plant in India by the fourth quarter of 2026, which will entail an investment of about Rs 4,000 crore. The capacity of this plant will be increased to 90,000 tonnes by 2031. Thus, the total capital expenditure for our annual business in the next eight years is Rs 9,000 crore. With the growing demand for electric vehicles in India, Indian cell manufacturing companies need to set up battery plants in the country.
Bhoomi Pujan in 6-8 months
Epsilon Products will act as a sustainable and reliable supplier of anode and cathode materials for these cell companies. In this way, Epsilon is playing an important role in the raw material processing ecosystem in the country and even in global demand. Handa said the company is planning a bhoomi puja ceremony for the plant in the next six to eight months. He said the construction of the plant would take one and a half years. He said, “We plan to start supplying to the market by the end of 2026 or early 2027.”
