A major accident took place in Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh. A huge fire broke out in a mattress manufacturing factory in an industrial area of the district, killing six workers while four others suffered severe burn injuries. The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem report. Kanpur Dehat Superintendent of Police (SP) BBGTS Murthy said that the incident took place on Saturday.
Kanpur Dehat Superintendent of Police said that a fire broke out at RP Poly Plast Private Limited on Khanpur Khadanja Road in Rania on Saturday due to a short circuit, due to which an LPG gas cylinder exploded in the factory and the roof collapsed. He said that factory director Shishir Garg informed the fire station, after which fire tenders were sent.
Many workers are still missing.
He said firefighters recovered the completely burnt bodies of three teenage laborers on Saturday. He said a laborer named Amit (19) succumbed to his injuries at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital late in the evening, while Ajeet (16) and Vishal (20) breathed their last at Lucknow’s SGPGI. Manoj (18), Priyanshu (19) and Luv-Kush (19) are still missing, the SP said.
He said that the severely burnt people were admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital, from where the workers were shifted to SGPGI in Lucknow after their condition became critical. He said that the police have started investigating the case by registering an FIR against the three directors of the factory, but no arrest has been made in this regard so far.
