Bank Holiday: Banks are going to remain closed on Monday, 20 May, the first business day of the week. Banks are going to remain closed in 49 cities of the country on 20 May. Banks will remain closed in 49 cities in 8 states of the country on 20 May. Banks will remain closed on Monday in 49 cities of the country including Mumbai, Lucknow, Belapur. Actually, voting for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections is going to take place on Monday. Banks are going to remain closed in these cities due to voting. 

Bank holiday in these cities 

On Monday, May 20, the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 is going to be held in these parts of the country. Due to voting, government offices, schools, colleges, banks will remain closed in these cities. Voting is going to be held tomorrow in 49 cities of 8 states. Orders have been given to keep banks closed in Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Lucknow, Belapur.

Lok Sabha elections are going to be held in Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Maharashtra. A circular has been issued in view of the voting. Voting is going to be held on 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Maharashtra, 7 in West Bengal, 5 in Bihar, 5 in Odisha, 3 in Jharkhand, 1 seat each in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Banks have been declared closed on the day of voting so that everyone can vote. However, this will be a paid holiday. That means banks, government offices will remain closed and salary will also be paid for that day.  

Banks closed in these cities  

On Monday, May 20, banks will remain closed due to voting in Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central and Mumbai South in Maharashtra. In Uttar Pradesh, banks will remain closed due to voting in Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Barabanki, Faizabad, Kaiserganj and Gonda. In Odisha, banks have been ordered to remain closed in Bargarh, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal and Aska. In Jharkhand, banks will remain closed in Chatra, Koderma and Hazaribagh. In West Bengal, banks will remain closed in Bangaon, Barrackpore, Howrah, Uluberia, Srirampur, Hooghly and Arambagh. In Jammu and Kashmir, banks will remain closed in Baramulla and Ladakh.
