During his two-day visit to the state, Gandhi Strategized on the plans to resurrect the party’s organizational structure at the grassroots level. While addressing his party members, he said “If Congress wants to defeat BJP-RSS in terms of ideology and politics, Primarily and specially focus on Gujarat.”

New Empowerment Framework: Bottom to Top Approach

Gandhi urges party workers not to lose hope, while giving them a reality check about the current scenario in their state, described as a growing BJP fortress. He recognizes that DCCs need to take the lead. DCCs have more autonomy, less oversight, and ability to make decisions.

“We should not say I run the district from Ahmedabad. The district should run itself from the district,”. Delegated decision making at the grassroots need to be prioritized further, according to Gandhi.

With constructive criticism, Gandhi directs his attention towards party members and acknowledges the fact that the internal competition has turned counterproductive

‘Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan’ Launched to Energize Grassroots

Rahul Gandhi inaugurated the campaign for building strong organization structures within the state by launching the ‘Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan’ for the territorial unit of Gujarat. This is all in response to the call made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge that the year 2025 should be “the year of organizational overhaul.”

In a figurative statement, Gandhi draws an analogy with horses—

“The problem in Gujarat was we were using a racehorse for a wedding and the wedding horse for a race. Now we will put the right horse in the right place.”

Concern Raised by Party Workers Eager to Go Ahead

Gandhi’s visit was also an opportunity to have an interface with district heads and frontline workers. Other concerns associated with infighting accompanying senior most leaders.

Workplace disorder below the district level

Loss of some youthful talents of the Congress to the BJP

Overlooking their say on candidate selection for elections

Gandhi directed them to suggest in writing what needs to be changed in local strategy so as to enhance and regain the ground level organizational tact.

Supervision and Evaluation Pertaining to the Corporation

In what appears to be new organizational death policies, Congress has assigned a five member observer group composed of four local members and one from the center who is supposed to give thorough reports within ten days which are classified per district instead of region, as was done previously. The observers take complete responsibility for every single detail to be reported and the mounting expectation is that within such a short time Congress will show some results.

The trip is subsequent to the meeting of CWC and AICC held in Ahmedabad last week where blueprints sytems were developed to fortify Congress's foothold in Gujarat.
