At least seven people were killed and many others injured in a horrific road accident that took place late Sunday night in Jalukbari area of Assam’s capital Guwahati. Guwahati Joint Commissioner of Police Thube Prateek Vijay Kumar told the media that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased were students. The incident took place in Jalukbari area.
Horrific road accident at Jalukbari flyover
Police said the horrific road accident took place on Jalukbari flyover on Sunday night. At least seven students of Assam Engineering College (AEC) died tragically in this road accident. The students were traveling in a Scorpio car. The accident took place when the driver of the Scorpio car lost control of the vehicle. After which the Scorpio collided with a parked Bolero DI pickup van on the Jalukbari flyover road and crashed into a divider.
Ten people were traveling in the Scorpio car
The students killed in the Jalukbari flyover road accident have been identified as Arindam Bhawal and Nor Deka of Guwahati, Kaushik Mohan of Shivsagar, Upanshu Sarmah of Nagaon, Raj Kiran Bhuiya of Majuli, Iman Baruha of Dibrugarh and Kaushik Baruha of Mangaldoi. According to information received, ten people were traveling in the Scorpio car at the time of the road accident.
Seven of the ten students died on the spot, while three others were taken to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in a critical condition. The police who reached there after the incident could not save the lives of the students as they died on the spot.
