On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told Chief Ministers of all Indian states to detect and report any Pakistani citizens within their jurisdictions. This data is being compiled so that proper arrangements can be made for their deportation to Pakistan along with visa cancellations.

This instruction corresponds with the Centre’s overarching plan to bolster domestic security following the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam, located in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Cancellations with Deportative Preconditions

During the recent crackdown, the Central government had previously reported the removal of the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani Citizens. The Centre mandated all Pakistanis residing in India through the SVES to exit the country within 48 hours.

Furthermore:

Medical visas issued to Pakistani citizens will be nullified on April 29.

All Pakistani Citizens are required to leave India prior to the expiry of their visas in accordance with the revised conditions.

Footage surfaced on social media of Pakistani nationals be seen crossing the Attari border to return.

Background: Pahalgam Terror Attack has Eliminated Diplomatic Relations

This is immediately after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22nd April 2025, in which 26 individuals including foreign tourists, locals, and others were gunned down.
