In a strange case, passengers on an Air India flight to Delhi had to make a hasty U-turn back to Chicago, US because the toilets on the flight were reportedly overflowing.
According to ANI, a news outlet that cites a spokesperson, measures were made for the people who had already been on the flight for more than ten hours. “AI126, operating Chicago to Delhi on 6 March 2025, air-returned to Chicago because of a technical problem,” the airline AI reported.
The New York Post told that after reaching Chicago, all passengers and crew left the plane as normal and were given accommodation to mitigate the difficulties caused to them, which the statement forwarded said.
The report said that the turn-around decision was made approximately four plus half into the flight when the plane was located over the Greenland region. In addition, the flight's return to Chicago took about the same amount of time, which summed up to 10 hours for the passengers. The passengers in the airline were furious since there was just one single bathroom available for more than 300 people on the flight. Passengers captured the madness of the fight on videos and uploaded on X. A user, @dom_lucre, tweeted a video showing the disastrous fight which has since gone viral. In the video, we see restless passengers confronting a staff member on the flight regarding the situation. The caption states that airplane toilets clog quite frequently, but the root of the issues arise when people flush inappropriate objects down the toilet. Another claimed that a couple clogged toilets could easily cause a flight crew to stop the plane mid-air because there are too few bathrooms available.
Conversely, a user on Reddit commented, “It seems that every new day, Air India wakes up and sets a new low benchmark for customer service.”
Not the first time: Air India flights have recently reported numerous complaints.
Just recently, a national spokesperson for the Bhartiya Janata Party, Jaiveer Shergill, vented his anger on social media about an Air India short haul he undertook recently. He used social media to inform everyone that the cabin seats on the airline are broken, that the staff is terrible, and the airline has awful support services at the airport.
Going further back, another passenger, Nilesh Bansal went on X and complained that he and his 4-year-old daughter and son were seated behind economy class on flight AI-2055 because the seats that they had been given were being used by an Air India crew member, a flying instructor.
