Violence in Manipur is not stopping. As Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the state today, violence erupted once again in various parts of the state on Sunday. At least 5 people including a policeman were killed while 12 people were injured in the violence.

At least 80 people were killed in ethnic violence last month. On Sunday (May 28), Chief Minister N. Biren Singh issued a statement saying that he had received reports that “40 militants” had been killed during the violence. The Chief Minister said that these terrorists were using M-16 and AK-47 assault rifles and sniper guns against civilians. They came to burn houses in many villages. Strict action against them with the help of army and other security forces Action In which around 40 terrorists have been killed. Home Minister Amit Shah is going to reach Manipur today. In this regard, the Chief Minister appealed to the Kuki tribal Meetei community to work to maintain peace and bring normalcy.

Earlier, Army Chief General Manoj Pandey visited Manipur on Saturday and reviewed the law and order situation. In fact, violence erupted in the state last month when the tribals groups , mainly Kukis, opposed the demand to include the Meti community in the Scheduled Tribe category. This will give them the benefit of reserves and access to forest land. The government has imposed curfew and internet ban in many areas to prevent further escalation of violence.
