Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has always been known for his diverse roles. However, since becoming a father, his approach to selecting films has evolved. In a recent interview with The Quint while promoting his latest movie, Be Happy, he shared insights on how fatherhood has influenced his career decisions.
Emotional Connection Over Evaluation
When asked if he carefully evaluates films before choosing them, Abhishek dismissed the idea. He emphasized the importance of instinct in decision-making, stating:
“The one thing I am never going to do is evaluate my films. The minute you start evaluating an emotion, you are done. You hear the story—did it touch you? Yeah, go for it. It has to be an emotional response.”
This perspective highlights his commitment to storytelling that resonates deeply rather than choosing roles based solely on commercial or critical appeal.
Avoiding Explicit Content
Despite his emotional approach to film selection, Abhishek Bachchan also acknowledged certain boundaries he sets for himself. He expressed his discomfort with sexually explicit content, saying:
“Maybe if there is something that is sexually explicit, I am very uncomfortable with that. I don’t like showing all of that on screen. Even if I am watching a show alone and something very sexually explicit comes on, mujhe thoda ajeeb lagta hai.”
His views reflect a conscious effort to align his work with his personal values and comfort level.
Fatherhood's Impact on His Choices
As a father, Abhishek Bachchan feels a heightened sense of responsibility regarding the projects he takes on. He revealed that his role as a “girl dad” has significantly impacted the types of films he wants to be a part of:
“I have always said, since I became a girl dad, I only want to make films that I can watch with my daughter. I am not saying it for principle, but I don’t know how she would possibly see and be like, ‘What’s he doing?’ So, I'd like to consider that.”
This candid admission showcases his dedication to selecting roles that align with the values he wants to instill in his daughter.
