A smuggler was caught at the border with 33 thousand US dollars and gold worth 18 lakhs

Kolkata: The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed along the Indo-Bangladesh border adjacent to West Bengal has arrested a smuggler along with 33 thousand US dollars and gold worth around 18 lakh rupees. He has been identified as Tanmay Biswas, a resident of Nadia district. A statement issued by the BSF on Wednesday said that the BSF had already received information about the smuggling near Vijaypur border post in Nadia district. Later, when the said suspect was moving from the Indian border to the Bangladesh border with the bag, he was cornered and nabbed by the jawans. While searching him, six gold bangles, 39 bangles and 33 thousand US dollars were found from him. The weight of gold is 301 grams and its estimated value is 17 lakh 78 thousand 910 rupees. He has been handed over to Banpur Customs for further legal action. During interrogation he said that for the last six months he was involved in smuggling business. He was to receive one thousand rupees for the delivery of today’s consignment.
