Tehran: Iran has offered to help India in the case of Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who was sentenced to death in a case in Yemen. An Iranian official said that Tehran is ready for whatever help it can provide on humanitarian grounds. Let us tell you that Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have control over most of the country. This includes Yemen's capital Sanaa as well. In such a situation, Iran has a lot of influence over Yemen. 

Let us tell you that the Indian nurse has been sentenced to death for killing a citizen in Yemen. She has been in jail since 2017. The President of Yemen has upheld the death sentence of Nimisha last month. India has said that it is in touch with the nurse's family and relatives to help her in this matter and all kinds of legal options are being considered. 

Why does Iran want to help

Iran has expressed its desire to hold another round of talks on this issue with the Indian consulate officials. Tehran hopes that with this it will get a chance to revive other trade relations with India including oil supply. Iran has made this offer at a time when Western countries including America have imposed international sanctions on Russia's export of crude oil. In such a situation, Iran wants to become an alternative to Russia's oil market. However, recently America has also banned 3 oil companies of Iran. 

Tehran wants to sell oil to India

Iran hopes that Tehran will call for a revival of trade relations with India, including resuming oil supplies to India. Iran has also expressed its desire for a bilateral agreement with India, which would provide an opportunity to promote trade with Tehran despite facing sanctions. However, there are different reasons for international sanctions on Iran and Russia. But the question remains in Iran's mind that when India can buy oil from Russia despite sanctions, why not from Tehran?
