Prayagraj witnessed a violent attack on Kinnar Jagadguru Himangi Sakhi on Sunday, leaving her seriously injured.1 This incident is drawing attention due to its potential connection to Himangi Sakhi's vocal opposition to the appointment of film actress Mamta Kulkarni as Mahamandleshwar.2

Reports suggest that the attack occurred at Himangi Sakhi's camp in Mahakumbh Nagar on Saturday night. A group of assailants, allegedly associated with Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Laxmi Narayan Tripathi of the Kinnar Akhara, surrounded the camp, causing significant damage and reportedly attempting to take Himangi Sakhi hostage.

The attackers, who arrived in a Fortuner car, created chaos and instilled fear among devotees and followers present at the camp.4 Police intervention brought the situation under control, and an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the attack. Tensions are high in Mahakumbh Nagar following the incident.

Disturbingly, there are allegations that Laxmi Narayan Tripathi's associates also targeted the police personnel assigned to Himangi Sakhi's security, even seizing them before the attack. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV, and police are currently reviewing the footage and taking Himangi Sakhi's statement. The investigation is exploring the possible link between the attack and Himangi Sakhi's opposition to Mamta Kulkarni's Mahamandleshwar appointment.
