Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, stated on Tuesday that in the past eight years of his administration, he has ensured more development in the state than have been achieved in the prior seventy years.

He noted that his government changed the previous administration’s practice of “one district, one mafia” to “one district, one medical college” which has improved the lives of people all over the state.

Speaking at a ceremony commemorating eight years of the NDA Bharatiya Janata Party government in Gorakhpur, he reiterated the achievements of the state as he highlighted the changes since 2017.

He mentioned that similar programs were organized throughout UP in order to project the initiatives undertaken and the development policies implemented in the past eight years.

Adityanath said, "In the past, the situations in the state were dire. There was a lack of development coupled with an identity crisis among the youth, and poverty and unemployment forced many into a state of despondency. Women and businesspeople felt threatened. But today, Uttar Pradesh is self-sufficient, carrying out large development works, making it one of the fastest-growing states in the country."

“He also claimed, ‘The state saw a lot of riots before 2017, there was a mafia operating in every district. We have removed these mafias and changed policies from one district one mafia to one district one medical college.’”

Adityanath noted that what used to be an unattractive state for investors is now a prominent center of investment and tourism.  At the same time, he spoke about the development of infrastructure in the state and how it has the highest number of expressways in the country, improved interstate roads to Bihar and Jharkhand, and even Nepal.

According to him, the state possesses the longest rail network in the country, the most metro cities, and the first water island in India. The discussion also encompassed increased crop yield where the CM remarked, “Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of food grains in India." The CM brought attention to how, prior to 2017, UP fell behind in 45 central government schemes, but now the state is among the top two in terms of execution.

Apart from this Gorakhpur developed infrastructure with a new fertilizer factory and better road connections to Lucknow and Varanasi. He further remarked that presently there are two polytechnic institutions, twenty-three degree colleges, four new ITIs and a veterinary college in Gorakhpur. Since 2017, he noted, two more universities have been established, bringing the total to four. He also noted that there is construction ongoing for another university in the district.

A new Atal Residential School has been built at a cost of Rs 71 crore. He noted that the government has provided over 1.25 lakh smartphones and tablets to students free of charge.

He stated that in the GIDA industrial area, investment by Indian Glycols, Apollo Tubes, and CP Milk & Food Products has created employment for more than fifty thousand youngsters. He added that a new distillery that will operate at Rs 1,200 crore will open its gates soon. Varun Beverages and Tatva Plastics have also invested 1071 crore and 200 crore respectively. CM Adityanath maintained that, alongside, his government set an emphasis on poverty alleviation, housing, and social welfare.

“Adityanath said that over 56 lakh families have been provided with housing, 15 crore people are availing free ration, and more than one crore eldery, widows and disabled persons are receiving pensions.”\ “The CM said that his government has also given importance to conservation of cultural and religious heritages. He declared that temples like Budiya Mai and Tarkulha Devi and Muktinath as well as Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura have been undergoing significant development.”
