At the Elimination Chamber event, John Cena surprised the WWE Universe by turning heel for the first time in over 20 years. He attacked Cody Rhodes, following instructions from The Rock, and set up a title match at WrestleMania 41. This marked a major shift in Cena’s character, followed by an emotional moment on Raw where he ended his bond with fans.
Dave Meltzer’s Take on Cena’s WWE Future
According to wrestling expert Dave Meltzer, Cena’s heel turn is likely temporary. He believes the 16-time world champion will return to being a face before retirement. “I would be surprised for him to retire as a heel. It could happen anytime after WrestleMania,” Meltzer said in an interview with Indiatimes.
Cena’s Last Heel Run Since 2004
This is the first time since 2003-2004 that Cena is playing a villain in WWE. Back then, he was in a feud with The Undertaker. If he turns face again, it could lead to a powerful redemption story as part of his farewell tour.
What’s Next for Cena?
John Cena will face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 for the Undisputed Championship. WrestleMania 41 will be held in Las Vegas this April. Other top stars like Gunther and Iyo Sky are also confirmed for the event.
