RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed stated that, “the lamp was extinguished so that a new leadership of Kushwaha could not emerge. When asked about the letter regarding giving one MLC seat to the RLM, the then Bihar BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal stated, "At this moment I am not the state president, therefore I can not comment on the issue, and do not know what transacted between the leadership and RLM. Some discussions were held with the allies at the time of seat sharing during Assembly elections, but Upendra Kushwaha moved to Rajya Sabha after that, developments occurred, and I would prefer to hold back on further comments for now."

It is worth noting that a total of nine seats were vacated and for one, a by-election was conducted. Among the NDA constituents, the BJP contested 4 seats while the JDU put up candidates for 4. LJP Ram Vilas Paswan put up a candidate for 1 seat, all of which went unanimously. The RJD's Sunil Singh managed to win one seat.
