What is measles?
It is a viral disease caused by measles virus. It causes typical influenza-like symptoms and a red rash covering the entire body. Measles is an airborne disease. When an infected person coughs, breathes, sneezes or speaks, measles virus comes to the air. And these virus are able to persist in the air for 2 hours after an infected person has left a room, or drop onto surfaces near to an infected person. It is able to spread through direct contact with patients.
Infection could happen to those who: are closely with those infected, shared food and drink, came into physical contact, and touch contaminated surfaces without washing their hands or through their eyes, nose and mouth. And the mother also transmit measles virus to child from the conception to after delivery by milk.
