During the 1980s and 1990s, the Yamaha RX100 was more than just a motorcycle, it was a cultural icon. It was the RX100's legendary two-stroke engine and quick pickups that made it a sports bike favorite. The RX100 icon is set to be released again, much to the nostalgia of the fans of the RX100, and to a new generation that is yet to discover the bike.
Excitement is in the air with Yamaha India's Chairman, Eishin Chihana, confirming the RX100's return.
What features will the new RX100 have? It surely will have the soul of the classic RX100, but the features will be modern. The engine is set to exhaust the classic two-stroke engine and will be replaced with a modern engine. Yamaha is expected to bring out a 225cc engine which will replace the classic two-stroke, propelling the RX100 to become a new fan favorite. The new engine is sure to have all the thrilling features to keep the legacy of the RX100 strong.The design will most likely maintain its signature simple and sleek aesthetics while integrating modern features such as all-LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp, and a stylish new design for the fuel tank.
The new RX100 will be equipped with the latest technology as well. It is anticipated that the motorcycle will have a fully digital instrument cluster, outfitted with all the necessary information for the rider in a clear, modern gauge. Safety features, which are a top priority in today’s world, will include a dual-channel ABS for enhanced braking control on the bike as well.
Although Yamaha has yet to disclose a specific launch date, the new RX100 is anticipated to be in the market sometime in 2025 or 2026. Estimated pricing will be between ₹1.25 lakh to ₹1.50 lakh.
This is more than a motorcycle re-launch; it is the resurrection of a motorcycle legend. RX100's relaunch is a tribute to Yamaha's RX100’s incredible legacy while promising Yamaha enthusiasts out there for some thrilling rides for years to come.
