In a major relief for passengers in the South East Central Railway (SECR) zone, 12 previously cancelled passenger and MEMU trains have been restored. These trains, which were halted due to construction and yard modernization work at Akaltara station, will now resume their regular operations between April 8 and April 10, 2026.
List of Restored Trains: Major Relief for Commuters
The restoration will primarily benefit travelers on the Raipur, Bilaspur, Gevra Road, and Gondia routes. The 12 trains brought back into service include:
Raipur-Gevra Road-Raipur MEMU
Bilaspur-Raigarh-Bilaspur MEMU
Bilaspur-Gevra Road-Bilaspur Passenger
Raipur-Korba-Raipur Passenger
Bilaspur-Korba-Bilaspur MEMU
These services are crucial for daily office-goers and small traders who rely on these "lifeline" routes for their commute.
The "Special" Gift: New Summer Specials Launched
To manage the heavy rush during the upcoming summer months, the Railways has also introduced several Summer Special Trains. These trains will help ease the burden on regular long-distance services:
Patna-Charlapalli Summer Special
Tirupati-Raxaul Summer Special
These special services are designed to provide extra berths for passengers traveling across state borders during the holiday season.
Upcoming Disruptions: April 11 to April 27
While 12 trains have been restored, it is not all smooth sailing yet. Due to ongoing infrastructure upgrades and track maintenance at Gondia and Jharsuguda sections, some trains will remain affected or cancelled between April 11 and April 27, 2026.
Large-scale work, including the laying of the fourth line and automatic signaling installation, is expected to cause temporary partial cancellations or short-terminations during the latter half of April.
