Emami Fair and Handsome Cream: A consumer court in Delhi has imposed a fine of Rs 15 lakh on Emami Limited for unfair trade practice . In a case of 2013, the Central Delhi District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has given this decision against the company on the complaint of a person. Actually, in 2013, a young man bought Emami’s Fair and Handsome cream worth Rs 79 to become fair. But despite applying the cream, the young man did not become fair. The young man said in his complaint that the cream had no effect on his skin. While hearing the case, the court found that the company had given misleading and deceptive advertisement to sell its product.

The young man had used the cream following all the instructions

The young man accused the company that he had used the cream by following all the instructions given on the product packaging and label. But still his skin did not become fair, even though the company had claimed to make the skin fair through its product. On the young man’s complaint, the company gave many arguments to escape, but the court refused to accept any of the company’s arguments, because nothing related to the arguments given by the company was written on the packaging and label of the product.

The company will pay the fine amount to the youth

Taking into consideration the evidence presented, the Consumer Court said that Emami is selling a product called Fair and Handsome Cream, on whose packaging and labeling very few and limited instructions have been given that by using it continuously for three weeks, men’s skin will become fair. The Consumer Court said in its decision that the company knew that the instructions written in the packaging and labeling of the product are incomplete and if the other requirements are not followed, the results that have been claimed will not be achieved. The forum gave a detailed order in this entire case and directed Emami to pay a fine to the complainant youth.
