Suspense crime, Digital Desk : As of Friday, the state of Maharashtra had recorded an additional 114 new COVID-19 cases since January 2025 bringing the total count to 1,276. The health department also mentioned that one new death has been reported as a result of COVID-19 bringing the total number of deaths to 18.

The new cases reported also included came from Pune, which registered 42 urban and 2 rural cases bringing its total to 44, while Mumbai has reported 37. Mira Bhayandar and Panvel Municipal Corporations reported 7 cases each. Other cases include Navi Mumbai with 4, Pimpri-Chinchwad with 6, Kalyan with 3, with Thane, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Parbhani each contributing 1 case.

Testing Data and City-wise Split

Since the beginning of the year the health department has conducted 15510 tests out of which 1276 tested positive. Mumbai has recorded 612 positive cases since January, the bulk of which were detected in May.

The department noted that out of the 18 deaths so far, 17 had pre-existing medical conditions, also referred to as comorbidities.

Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli Reports New Infections

The municipal corporations of Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli have also been actively updating their data. They reported a total of 9 new confirmed cases increasing the region's total active cases to 38.

The total number of infections in Thane has now risen to 137 after the Thane Municipal Corporation confirmed six new infections. 107 patients have recovered and been discharged from the hospital. Currently, there are still 11 people who are hospitalized and the total deaths in the city is still one.  

Three new cases of infections were also confirmed in Kalyan-Dombivli which takes the total number of cases to 18. The death toll has, however, stayed the same at three.
