In a major boost to the healthcare infrastructure of Rajasthan, the 2026 State Budget has placed a massive emphasis on upgrading medical facilities in the capital, Jaipur. Finance Minister Diya Kumari has allocated significant funds to ensure that the city becomes a premier hub for specialized medical care in North India.

The budget focus moves beyond basic healthcare, targeting specialized wings for children, mental health, and high-capacity inpatient services.

1. The SMS Hospital IPD Tower: A New Landmark

The centerpiece of the healthcare budget is the continued and accelerated funding for the IPD Tower at SMS Hospital.

Capacity: This multi-story skyscraper is designed to add hundreds of premium beds, reducing the long waiting lists at Rajasthan’s premier government hospital.

Modernization: The tower will house state-of-the-art operation theaters, helipads for air ambulances, and a centralized diagnostic center, making it a "one-stop" destination for complex surgeries.

2. Specialized Pediatric ICUs (PICU)

Recognizing the need for advanced child healthcare, the budget has sanctioned the establishment of new Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) and Neonatal units.

These units will be equipped with high-end ventilators and life-support systems specifically designed for infants and children, ensuring that the city is better prepared for pediatric health crises.

3. Center for Mental Health Excellence

In a progressive move, the government has allocated funds for a dedicated Mental Health Center of Excellence in Jaipur.

This facility will focus on comprehensive psychiatric care, counseling, and de-addiction services.

It will also serve as a training hub for psychologists and psychiatrists across the state, addressing the growing "silent epidemic" of mental health issues.

4. Expansion of JK Lon and Mahila Chikitsalaya

Specific funds have been earmarked for the renovation and expansion of JK Lon Hospital (Pediatrics) and Mahila Chikitsalaya (Maternity). The goal is to increase the bed-to-patient ratio and upgrade the labor rooms with modern maternity tech.

5. Digital Health & OPD Management

To tackle the massive crowds at Jaipur's government hospitals, the budget introduces a Digital Queue Management System.

Patients will be able to book OPD appointments online, reducing wait times and making the hospital experience more dignified for the common citizen.
