JEE Main 2025 Expected Cut-off

According to experts—which includes IIT alumnus Sandeep Mehta, co-founder of Vidyamandir Classes—this year’s JEE Main cut-off is expected to be slightly higher due to increased applicant participation and previous trends. Here are the expected cutoffs based on different expert analyses:

Category
Expected Percentile
Approximate Marks (out of 300)

General
93-95
85-90

OBC-NCL
91-93
80-85

EWS
91-93
80-85

SC
82-86
50-65

ST

-

Competishun’s Mohit Tyagi anticipates that the general category cutoff will increase from last year's 90.7788642 to around 92.19 this year, whereas OBC-NCL contenders are speculated to have a cutoff in the range of 77.67 percentile.

Contrary to the general consensus about the qualifiers, PhysicsWallah analyses suggest that the minimum qualifying score (cut-off) for JEE Advanced 2025 is estimated to be:

Category

Minimum Required Marks

General

86

EWS

84

OBC

82

SC

60

PwD

0.0018

Factors Affecting Cut-off

The JEE Main cut off marks are subject to a number of determinants including:

- Total number of registrants (candidates) for the exam
- The relative challenge (difficulty) of the exam
- General ranking performance of the students class in the exam

Criteria from class 12 board examination

A student has to satisfy the eligibility conditions for their respective Class 12 board examinations which include a minimum of 75% overall for General and OBC students and 65% for SC, ST and PwD.

According to Nitin Vijay the founder and CEO of Motion Education, these have risen slightly, so the predictions for cut-offs this year are:

General 95+
EWS 85+
OBC-NCL 83+
SC 65+
ST 50+

All candidates are recommended to frequently check the official JEE Main portal for relevant updates and announcements for these changes.
