Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi late Tuesday night. Following the news of her hospitalization, her son and Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has cancelled his scheduled election tour to Kerala to remain by her side.
Health Update: Stable and Under Observation According to the medical bulletin released by the hospital on Wednesday, Sonia Gandhi’s condition is currently stable. Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, stated that she was admitted around 10:22 PM on Tuesday after complaining of physical discomfort.
The medical team is investigating potential stomach and urinary tract infections. She has been started on a course of antibiotics and is responding well to treatment. Sources suggest that the sudden change in Delhi's weather may have triggered the health issues, but there is no immediate cause for alarm.
Impact on Kerala Election Campaign Rahul Gandhi was slated to kick off a major election campaign for the upcoming Kerala Assembly polls today. He was scheduled to lead a massive United Democratic Front (UDF) rally at Kozhikode Beach at 4:30 PM.
Due to the medical emergency, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will now fly to Kerala to address the rally in Rahul's place. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra spent time at the hospital on Wednesday morning to monitor their mother's recovery.
Medical History This is not the first time the 79-year-old leader has faced health challenges. In June last year, she was hospitalized for stomach-related issues and had previously sought treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla for high blood pressure. Sonia Gandhi, who formerly represented Raebareli in the Lok Sabha, currently serves as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.
