Setting the tone for the high-stakes 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday unleashed a fierce attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. Launching a comprehensive 32-page 'Chargesheet' (Abhiyognama) in Kolkata, Shah framed the upcoming polls not just as a state-level contest but as a vital battle for India’s national security.

The "15 Years of Misrule" Allegation

Addressing a packed press conference, the Home Minister alleged that the TMC’s 15-year tenure has transformed West Bengal into a "corridor for infiltration, appeasement, and corruption." He stated that the BJP's chargesheet is a detailed compilation of governance failures, "syndicate raj," and the breakdown of law and order under the current regime.

Focus on National Security and Infiltration

"The security of the entire country is linked to the Bengal elections," Shah remarked, highlighting concerns over porous borders. He claimed that West Bengal is the primary route for infiltrators entering India, which poses a direct threat to national stability. He accused the TMC of prioritizing "vote-bank politics" over the safety of the citizens.

Call for a 'Full Majority' BJP Government

Expressing confidence in the BJP's grassroots strength, Shah praised the leadership of Suvendu Adhikari and the state unit's resilience. He asserted that while previous elections were fought on various grounds, the 2026 polls would be a mandate against "fear and intimidation." Shah promised that a BJP government would dismantle illegal networks and restore the state’s past glory, turning it from a "laboratory of corruption" back into a hub of development.

TMC's Counter-Attack

The Trinamool Congress was quick to respond, with senior leaders like Abhishek Banerjee challenging the BJP's narrative. The TMC has dismissed the chargesheet as a "bundle of lies," accusing the BJP of using central agencies and "fear tactics" to manipulate the electoral landscape ahead of the April 2026 voting phases.
