In a recent note by Jefferies, it has been said that the slowdown in the increase in the number of working people will start in 2030. According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics in August, the labor force participation rate (LFPR) in India among people aged 15 years and above has increased to 50.1 percent in April-June from 48.8 percent in April-June 2023, which shows that employment is increasing in the country.
Increasing share of working women
The LFPR rate among women aged 15 years and above has increased to 25.2 percent in the period April to June this year, from 23.2 percent in the same period of 2023. According to RBI data, about 17 crore people have got jobs in the country in the last ten years. 64.33 crore people had employment in the country in 2023-24. This figure was 47.15 crore in 2014-15.
