
As part of India’s ‘Brahma Operation’ in Myanmar, two naval ships were sent on Saturday to aid in the rescue and relief of the aftermath following the earthquake in Myanmar. Additionally, an 118-member Indian army field hospital was deployed to the region to assist injured civilians.
During the MEA briefing, spokesperson Jaiswal mentioned that two Indian navy ships are expected to deploy as part of the humanitarian assistance after the initial two are sent out for aid.
According to senior officials in the Indian navy, the first ship with 10 metric tonnes worth of aid departed from India at the start of the day while the other ship left during the afternoon. Both ships expect to reach the shores of Yangon by March 31.
On being prompted about the aircrafts following him with aid, Jaiswal mentioned having seen four aircrafts. The two aircraft made two flights after the initial one while the latter two left Agra around the same time.
Support efforts were further enhanced as India deployed additional resources in the form of a disaster response team consisting of eighty members from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
