Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The recent evaluation of the Assam and Nagaland border issues by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assessed the need of peace and cooperation. The meeting was called to formulate mechanisms for controlling tension and even understanding within the disputed border zones.
Constructive Dialogue as a Path Forward
During the meeting, Sarma underlined that the need to maintain and restrict violence and encourage peaceful dialogue with Nagaland is very important when talks about maintaining stability in the region arise. He pointed out that Assam intends to enhance and deepen economic relations with Nagaland as well as cultural ones.
Historical Conflict and Legal Proceedings
The Assam-Nagaland border which is over 512.1 kilometers has been the subject of fierce disputes ever since Nagaland was created in 1963. This matter is presently being looked at by the Supreme Court. Cited figures in the Assam Assembly claim that Nagaland is allegedly illegally claiming approximately 59,490.21 hectares of Assams territory.
Commitment to Harmony and Development
In affirmation of the peaceful policy crafted for harmonious co-existence, the Chief Minister pointed out that the state's objective is to pursue historical relations on joint development projects. The former intends to resolve the issue through systematic and institutional arrangements, ensuring peace for the people residing along the borders.
