Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday urged the DMK government under Chief Minister MK Stalin to develop medical and engineering programs in Tamil language in the state.

Shah was speaking at the 56th Raising Day of the CISF at RTC Thakkolam, Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, where he remembered Modi's statement about enabling CISF aspirants to write their exams in their indigenous languages.

“Your mother tongue never had a place in CAPF exams. There was no option to take the CAPF exam in Bengali, Kannada or Tamil, but now under the leadership of PM Modi, candidates can take the exam in their mother tongue,” the former BJP president said.

“I would like to appeal to the CM of Tamil Nadu to initiate the teaching of subjects like engineering and medicine in Tamil for the advantage of the pupils,” Shah further commented.

Stalin had claimed that NEP 2020 is an ‘LKG student lecturing a PhD holder’ and countered that the state has already achieved many goals of the new policy, in reply to Shah’s remarks.

Returning fire against Stalin, Tamil Nadu BJP head K Annamalai remarked that the Chief Minister “put down the vernacular Hindi noose he kept whirling his finger around with,” growing further disillusioned with the ‘imposition’ of Hindi on the state. “The charade you have been acting out as the Hindi imposition hoax has come apart. It is sad that you haven’t woken up to this reality yet," he wrote on X.

The two have been in a disagreement while looking into each other’s eyes over the supposed Hindi domination through the three-language policy enshrined in the NEP. Stalin mocked the BJP’s signature campaign in the state, branding their efforts as "as a circus,” last time around.

“Now the BJP’s circus-like signature campaign for the three-language formula turns into a laughing stock in Tamil Nadu,” he stated. “Let me throw the gauntlet down to them: Turn this into a core agenda in the 2026 Assembly elections and let’s see if they dare declare it as a referendum on Hindi imposition. History is there to witness. Those who have tried imposing Hindi on Tamil Nadu have either seen defeat or metamorphosed into foes aligned with the DMK thereafter. Cull Tamil Nadu will not bear the question of Hindi colonialism replacing British colonialism,” he added.
