Reliance Jio has rolled out 5.5G technology in the country which is quite an advancement in mobile connectivity. This technology which is also seen as a progression of 5G technology is alternately referred as 5G-Advanced and is envisaged to provide a faster connection experienced, lower latency, greater speed and network reliability. With this advancement, the way users interact with mobile networks in India is set to change forever with speeds up to 1Gbps and even more for True 5G users.

What is the 5.5G network?

5.5G network is enhanced version of 5G existing mobile network and it has been developed through 3GPP Release 18 standard. It would incorporate previous 5G standards providing improved data rates, expanded coverage area, and superior uplink connectivity. 5.5 G networks are capable of achieving maximum downlink rates of 10 Gbps and uplink of 1 Gbps through multi carrier aggregation, approving further both the individual and industrial premises.

Jio’s effort is part of a massive global trend and Jio alone has been actively working on 5.5G capabilities. The tests resulted in Zain Kuwait being able to push the limits to 10 Gbps which Vivacom in Bulgaria was able to do as well. Meanwhile, during Jio’s deployment in India, new standards were established where users had higher speeds and more connections even in places with notoriously bad reception such as an underground parking lot or at an event that has many people.

How it enhances user satisfaction

There has been an introduction of multi cell connectivity in this particular 5.5g network which enables a device to log into multiple cells in multiple network cells and towers at the same time. By doing this, data speeds are significantly increased, and so is call quality especially in places with high density of users.

Industries also benefit from the use of 5.5G networks as this incurs new possibilities of creating deterministic wireless networks for critical applications.
