Your work stress and exhaustion may be due to iron deficiency
Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : We all feel exhausted after working through the evening hours at our job or stressed out from our work. Whenever we're feeling weak or have low mood for no obvious reason we seem to think that our condition is due to excess work stress and/or inadequate sleep.
The truth is that the problem we're feeling can sometimes be more complex than mere fatigue which we tend to ignore and can be a serious health condition; which could be a sign of iron deficiency. Thus by overlooking them can lead to problems later in our life. Let's find out more on this matter.
What are the signs and symptoms of iron deficiency?
Fatigue/Weakness-This is a key indicator of iron deficiency. Iron deficiency occurs when there are low levels of hemoglobin which is the molecule responsible to carrying oxygen in our blood to all the organs. This can often make you feel perpetually weak and tired.
Moodiness/Irritability-When the hemoglobin level is low, the oxygen that reaches the brain decreases causing our inability to focus, headaches, and unexplained irritability.
Breathlessness-Shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat and general anxiety after just a short brisk walk or a stair climb indicates iron deficiency. Our heart is working overtime, pumping blood more rapidly than usual in an effort to supply oxygen-starved body tissue; which we might be mistaking for anxiety.
How to distinguish between stress and iron deficiency:
Though the symptoms of iron deficiency like fatigue and irritability may be mistaken for symptoms of stress, yet there are other signs which help distinguish the two.
