Won’t concede to anything, why did Israel oppose the US-Iran peace treaty

The peace deal between the United States and Iran has been welcomed globally, giving an hope of a peace in West Asia and free navigation in Strait of Hormuz. However, Israel, the other rival in war against Iran, seemed to be unimpressed by the announcement made by US President Donald Trump.
Israeli forces launch attack in Lebanon amid political outcry
A MoU is said to be signed between US and Iran on Friday, 19th June, 2026 in Switzerland. However ahead of this various Israeli leaders were already opposing it on social media and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's army, worried with the treaty has again decided to launch attack in Lebanon.
Iranian news agency IRIB said that the forces of Israel conducted air and artillery strikes on the cities of Zawtar, Markaba and Khiam in southern Lebanon on Monday, June 15th, 2026, based on intelligence it received from Lebanon sources. But there have been no reports of casualties in these attacks.
Israeli Defense Minister opposes US-Iran peace deal
Of all Israeli leaders to oppose the US-Iran deal, Defense Minister Israel Katz has been most vocal about it and expressed that if Iran attacks Israel as it carries out military operations in Lebanon, Tel Aviv will reply with a full force.
In response, Defense Minister Katz also said that he is firm in his belief that Israeli forces won't retreat from Lebanon, Syria and Gaza Strip. While speaking at a press conference he stated, “The control and security over all territories remains one of the most important achievements of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), thus against all present and future pressures, we oppose the withdrawal of the IDF from Lebanon. The Prime Minister too notified US president of such decisions”.
