A 23-year-old law student, Rakshit Chaurasia, was confirmed to be under the influence of marijuana when he crashed a speeding car into multiple vehicles, killing one woman and injuring others in Vadodara, Gujarat. The incident occurred at the busy Amrapali Chaar Rasta in Karelibag.

Chaurasia, a fourth-year student at MS University and a resident of Prayagraj, was driving a Volkswagen Virtus when he collided with three vehicles. Hemali Patel lost her life in the accident. Bystanders captured video footage of Chaurasia behaving erratically post-crash, shouting "another round" and "Om Namah Shivay."

 Forensic Report Reveals Drug Use

According to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar, Chaurasia was not under the influence of alcohol but had consumed marijuana. Blood tests confirmed the presence of the drug in his system.

Two others in the vehicle, Praanshu Chauhan and Suresh Bharwad, also tested positive for marijuana. Vadodara Police confirmed the arrest of Chaurasia and his co-passenger. The third accused is expected to be taken into custody soon.

 Legal Action and Charges

Chaurasia faces multiple charges, including:

Culpable homicide not amounting to murder

Rash and negligent driving

Endangering public safety

Violations under the Motor Vehicles Act

In addition, a separate FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against all three accused.

 Investigation Continues

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4), Panna Momaya, stated that a detailed technical report from the car manufacturer Volkswagen has been requested to determine the speed and technical status of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
