Chennai: An air show of Indian Air Force planes was organized near Marina Beach on Sunday. Thousands of people gathered during this. Due to overcrowding, five people died, while many people were admitted to the hospital. A senior police officer of the city said that one person died on the beach and four others died in the surrounding areas. He said that all these five people had come to see the air show.

Thousands of people stood in the scorching sun for at least 2 to 3 hours to watch the air show of the Indian Air Force. Some people in this crowd were holding umbrellas to protect themselves. Although the air show was held between 11 am and 1 pm, most people reached the venue at least an hour before.
Signs of dehydration in people
It is being told that more than 30 people with symptoms of dehydration were taken to nearby government hospitals. All the people are being treated. Actually, after the air show, all the nearby roads got jammed. Crowds of people were seen at all places including the bus station and the metro. During this time people had to walk a long distance to catch a bus or reach the metro stations. At the same time, the police say that they successfully controlled the crowd.
The opposition blamed the government.
At the same time, opposition leader and AIADMK chief K Palaniswami condemned the DMK government for this incident. He alleged that the government failed to make proper arrangements for such an important event. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved people. (Input – Agency)
