Delhi Weather Today: It looks like another heatwave is upon Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is predicting extreme temperatures and uncomfortable weather conditions for the capital in the coming days. While there may be partly cloudy skies on May 14th, no real relief is expected from the extreme heat. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 39 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while the minimum is predicted to hover around 27 degrees Celsius. The afternoon may feel like a heatwave because of the hot winds and bright sunshine. Humidity may be up to 60 percent in the morning, but it is likely to decrease later.
Delhi temperature forecast: How hot will it be this week?
Temperatures are set to rise steadily in the coming days. It's predicted that maximum temperatures will rise to 40 degrees Celsius on the 15th and 16th of May. From the 17th to 19th of May, the temperature is likely to reach up to 41 degrees Celsius. It has been revealed that from the 16th of May onwards, the skies will be mostly clear, which would make the sunshine even hotter. Nighttime temperatures are also expected to be high, around 28 degrees Celsius. This suggests that there won't be much comfort during the night either. Experts suggest that such temperatures for long durations could lead to symptoms of fatigue, dehydration and illnesses linked to heat.
Delhi weather today: Heat wave conditions likely soon
Despite the absence of any official heatwave warning as yet, meteorologists have recommended taking caution during the afternoon hours. The hottest part of the day is predicted between 12 noon and 4 PM. Health experts have warned that spending long periods at temperatures close to 40 degrees Celsius may have severe implications for human health. People particularly vulnerable are the children, elderly and people working outdoors. It has been advised by doctors that people need to keep drinking plenty of water. They must wear light-colored, cotton clothing and try not to go out in the direct sun as much as possible. In cases of dizziness, headache or weakness, people should go into the shade immediately and rest.
When will Delhi get relief from the heat?
At the moment, there are no clear indications that thunderstorms or rain are headed towards Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the capital will face extreme heat at least until the 19th of May. According to the meteorologists, if temperatures continue to rise, a heatwave alert might be issued soon. In view of the clear weather expected along with dry conditions, people have been advised to consume plenty of water and try not to go out in the harsh heat during the peak afternoon hours.
