Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : England's World Cup preparations were thrown into disarray when their training kit and team equipment were stolen after arriving in Kansas City. Police have apprehended two persons of interest and initiated an inquiry as authorities try to determine the full scope of the loss.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has been plagued with controversy from the outset, with issues of visa refusals, security concerns, and high ticket prices. While the concerns were expected to subside once the tournament commenced, the chaos seems to be mounting rather than dwindling. Just last evening, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey was denied a visa to Canada and as a result, will be absent from their opening match of the tournament, and now another significant controversy has emerged.

England's training kit and other team equipment were stolen during their journey to Kansas City in anticipation of their inaugural FIFA World Cup fixture. Authorities have taken two individuals into custody and are continuing their investigation into the matter.

According to reports, the theft was discovered on Saturday after a van carrying the team's equipment arrived in Kansas City and was unloaded. The missing items belonged to England's World Cup contingent and included their training kits; officials are still working to identify precisely what else may have been taken. In the interim, the Kansas City Missouri police department confirmed that an investigation has been launched, and two persons of interest have been taken into custody pending further questioning.

"We are investigating a potential theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening," the department's statement read. The police have withheld further details regarding the circumstances of the alleged theft and the identities of the two persons apprehended.

England concludes Florida training camp

The incident took place while England was transitioning from their pre-tournament training base in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, to Kansas City, where the squad was preparing to commence its World Cup campaign. Media reports further indicated that members of the Football Association's logistics team were establishing their operations at Swope Soccer Village when the missing items were identified. The FA is currently assessing the extent of the loss and endeavoring to ascertain exactly which items are unaccounted for.

England had concluded their training camp in Florida on Thursday, after which the players were given a day off. The squad then traveled to Kansas City on Saturday to begin the final phase of their preparations for the tournament.

The incident comes just days before England is scheduled to begin its World Cup journey. The team is scheduled to conduct a community training session on Saturday afternoon and is set to face Croatia in Dallas next Thursday in their opening match of Group L. They will also be playing Ghana and Panama on June 24 and June 28 respectively.
