The Telangana State Women's Commission has raised concerns over certain dance sequences in recent Telugu films. The commission issued a formal warning to filmmakers, choreographers, and producers regarding what it describes as “vulgar and demeaning” dance moves that allegedly undermine the dignity of women.

Sharada Nerella, Chairperson of the Telangana State Women’s Commission, addressed these concerns through a press release. She revealed that multiple complaints had been received, particularly criticizing the portrayal of women in song sequences. The commission emphasized that cinema, being a powerful medium, must act responsibly.

Legal Action Threatened if Issue Persists

In the official statement, the commission declared:
"The Women's Commission is warning film directors, producers, choreographers, and related groups to act responsibly. Indecent dance steps that belittle women should be stopped immediately. If this warning is not heeded, we are ready to take strict action under the relevant laws."

Sharada further emphasized the film industry’s responsibility to deliver content that positively influences society. She pointed out that the youth and children are particularly susceptible to the impact of cinema and urged for self-regulation by industry professionals.

Songs and Actors Under Scrutiny

The controversy follows backlash against recent Telugu songs for featuring allegedly obscene choreography. The song Adhi Dha Surprisu from the Nithiin-starrer Robinhood has been notably criticized.

Peelings from Pushpa 2: The Rule
Dabidi Dibidi from Daaku Maharaaj

These songs involve major actors like Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja, Balakrishna, and Nithiin. Critics have flagged their dance steps as inappropriate and degrading to women.

The Women's Commission concluded the statement by inviting citizens and organizations to share their views and feedback. This input will help the commission monitor the issue more effectively and guide any further action.
