Who is Shweta Basu Prasad?

Shweta Basu Prasad is known for her recent portrayal of Lekha Agastya in Pankaj Tripathi's ‘Criminal Justice 4’. She started her career as a child actress and was highly popular among the Telugu audiences by the age of 17. Her life-changing moment came with the success of ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ in 2008, which was a blockbuster in South cinema. As a result, many opportunities opened up for her in the film industry. Shortly after, she starred in films such as ‘Casco’, ‘Ride’, and ‘Kalwar King’, where ‘Ride’ became a major hit. Shweta starred in the lead role of ‘Makdi’, a movie released in 2002, where she portrayed two twin sisters. For her performance, Shweta Basu Prasad earned a National Award.

In addition to her roles in South Indian and Bollywood films, Shweta Basu Prasad featured in the television series ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’ and ‘Karishma Ka Karishma’. Not long ago, actress Shweta Basu was appearing in ‘Criminal Justice 4’ where she played as Lekha Agastya. Life has not been easy for her, as she has had a mixture of good and bad experiences. Her career suffered a downfall due to being in a sex scandal. However, after rebuilding her life, she returned to the industry with Alia Bhatt’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. In the movie, Shweta played the part of Dhawan’s sister-in-law.

A sex scandal involving Shweta Basu surfaced in 2014 and was linked to Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. The aftermath of the scandal left Shweta Prasad without work for a prolonged period, with no film offers coming through even after being cleared. She seemed to disappear from the industry. Eventually, Shweta shifted her focus to OTT television series, where she is now thriving.
