Suspense Crime, Digital Desk :In a recent interaction, Shruti Haasan revealed the transformative impacts of her parents’ divorce on her childhood and her ability to cope with struggles. While Shruti Haasan is well-known today as an actress herself, she is also the daughter of two stars of Indian cinema - Kamal Haasan and Sarika. She shared her story during an interview with her Filmfare.
"Life’s lessons turned me into a much stronger person than anyone can imagine," she remarked in response to the underlying narratives in the show business of “the silver spoon life in the film industry.”
Life After the Separation of Her Parents
Regardless of her star parentage, life was not as simple for Shruti as many believe it to be. Remembering her parent’s divorce, she states, “Life humbled me. It's not like we were living in a big mansion. It's not like we were basking in luxury. When my mother chose to separate, we shifted from Chennai to Mumbai. It was tough.”
As she further explains, “I'm proud of the lessons I learned. There was a period for us where we had to go from being able to afford a Mercedes to using public transports like the local trains. As much as painful as it is, it is an experience that teaches you what resilience is.”
Self Sufficiency and The Quest For Independence
The musical prodigy also mentions her wish to become self reliant as one of her goals from a very young age. Even before plunging into the world of the film, she had rekindled her relationship with her father, studied music abroad, and the only synthesising factor in all this was her strong desire to be able to sustain herself.
“In terms of money, from an early age I wanted to earn it and have a place to call my own,” she said. “I would often exhibit a type of attitude behavior but that came from my fear, not confidence. It was about trying to conceal how small I felt.”
The couple welcomed two daughters, Shruti and Akshara, both of whom have ventured into the worlds of cinema and music. Kamal married Sarika in 1988, got divorced in 2004.
As for my next project, it is coolie.
As for myself, Shruti Haasan is starring in an upcoming action thriller film titled Coolie, which is set to be released soon. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures. It has an impressive cast consisting of veteran actors Rajinikanth, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Sundeep Kishan along with south Indian actress Reba Monica John.
